Martinsdale Ranch
Landscape Photo

Located in central Montana, the Martinsdale Ranch is home to some of the most beautiful hunting country. A division of 71 Ranch LP, which leases it's hunting to Self-Guided Hunts, the Martinsdale Ranch sits on the Upper Musselshell River with the Little Belt Mountains to the north, Crazy Mountains and Shields Mountains to the south. We feel the the ranch has some of the most beautiful mountain country in Montana with trees, live creeks, high and distant mountain tops. Great open meadows that stay green until freeze up, wild berries, and cool fresh air fill the draws, coulees, and the rock cliffs and bluffs. The ranch has outstanding Whitetail, Mule Deer, and Elk populations that make for some of the most excellent hunting experiences.

On the ranch you can have the most remote feeling of being in the farthest wilderness and still be only a few short hours from civilization. The ranch has some of the richest history of ranching and hunting as anywhere you might find. We are sure you will enjoy the time you spend hunting here on the ranch.

WEATHER

March-April

Spring is here. In the low country and valleys the snow is melting but still hanging on in the high country. Both months can have snow storms go through anytime. Temperatures in the low country range from 20's to the 50's with the high country is still colder.

May-July

Beautiful months! The trees, flowers, and bushes are greening up and starting to bloom and smell fantastic. In May and early June there are rain showers almost weekly but you can almost always get around. July will have evening showers that come off of the mountains. The snow is mostly gone in the high country by the 3rd week of June. July is a neat month to be in the high country weather wise. Temperatures are normally between the 50's and 80's.

August-October

August can be a bit warm like July temperatures and moisture, but once in awhile the high country can get snow as well as in September and October. They are normally very pleasant months with the trees changing and the berries ripening. This is a great time to be out hunting. September and October can have snow come and stay in the high country but usually not that much. If it snows in the low country it usually leaves in a short while. Temperatures range from 60's to 70's early in this period and from the 30's to 50's later. The high country can be cool and the humidity always makes it feel cooler.

November-February

Winter. Snow will come anytime in the high country and might drop 12" or more and build up to over 6' to 12+' drifts. The low country doesn't get that much but can anywhere from a couple inches to a couple feet of fluffy snow. The valley can have chinooks come through anytime. The weather in the low country is some of the most pleasant mountain weather you will find anywhere. Temperatures are always cool to cold and windy in the high country but the lower country will vary. November temps 30's to 40's with the rest of this period usually staying below the 30's with some sub zero days for sure.
