The Ingomar Ranch is host to one of the most impressive antelope populations in the country. Although the antelope are free-ranging they are also territorial which keeps them within their home range on the ranch. The size of the ranch also allows us to better manage hunting pressure throughout the season by rotating hunting areas between groups. We will never schedule hunts back to back for any particular area. Depending on the size of your group you can expect your hunting area to be anywhere from 4,000-12,000 acres. You'll be the only ones assigned to your area so you won't have to worry about competing for game.
We give you an area to hunt and will give you more if you are not happy with the first. This is very large country where you can see for miles. Hills, coulees, and reservoirs make it so you can watch your antelope for a long time whether you prefer blinds, stands, or the sneak. Decoys are amazing when the antelope are in the rut. That only lasts a few days but it is something to see. When you first arrive you can set up and inspect your area. We have over 25 areas with well over 100 watering holes or reservoirs of various sizes. You certainly don't have to shoot the first one you see because you will most likely have many to choose from. Self-Guided Hunts is lucky enough to have someone on the Ingomar Ranch who loves to hunt and he has built blinds and spent many hours photographing from the blinds as antelope come in to water. He also has blinds on trails that the animals travel. These blinds are only in 4 areas, so we only put hunters in these areas if they are interested in using the blinds.
Being able to spot the antelope from mile away allows you to spend a lot of time on the sneak. The variations in terrain will prove to make your hunting experience challenging and enjoyable. There are various sizes of horns so your good judgement will let you pick the largest ones. The vast area and the numbers of antelope you will see, will make this a hunting experience that you will cherish.
Whether you hunt with the bow or rifle, you will see many antelope and we are sure you will be happy that you chose to hunt here. We try very hard to manage the hunts per area and the number of hunters allowed so we can insure everyone has a great choice of place and antelope.
